                                                                                                        (Drummer /Producer)

From neo-rockabilly to zydeco, swing , jazz and jump-blues, Joe Geary has been a favorite drummer among American Roots music lovers. Having co-founded, produced and recorded with both critically acclaimed bands the Whyos and the Blues Jumpers, Geary was also a long-time member of the award-winning rock/zydeco band Lucky 7.

He currently performs with Academy Award nominated actor Danny Aiello and is the drummer/bandleader for his 8-piece jazz/swing/blues band that Aiello affectionately calls “Joe Geary & The Guys.” Geary has co-produced numerous Aiello projects including his #4 Billboard Traditional Jazz Chart debut I Just Wanted To Hear The Words as well as his critically acclaimed Christmas album “My Christmas Song for You.” Says Variety Magazine, “Drummer and front man Joe Geary fuels the band and gives it its drive.”

When not on the road with Mr. Aiello, Joe can be found backing Rex Fowler (Aztec Two Step) with his Rex and The Rockabilly Kings or in the studio with DMC (Darryl McDaniels of the legendary group Run-DMC) laying down tracks on one of his solo records.

Geary has received critical acclaim from magazines such as Blues Review and Rolling Stone, and from newspapers including USA Today, The LA Times and Village VoiceUSA Today called Geary’s Blues Jumpers, “one of the hottest and most talented bands to emerge from the east coast” while Blues Access said, “Perhaps owing to bandleader Joseph Geary’s presence on the drums, the Blues Jumpers build effectively from the rhythm section up.”

Throughout his career Geary has toured extensively across the US and Europe; highlights include a performance with BB King and the Blues Jumpers at the  Montreux Jazz Festival, performing with Aiello and The Boston Pops at Boston Symphony Hall , gracing the stage of the legendary Apollo Theatre, and entertaining US Navy personnel in Sigonella, Italy. He has performed on numerous television programs including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, HBO’s Swing In The Park, Live with Regis & Kelly and NBC’s Weekend Today Show to name a few.

In addition to his own music projects, Geary has had the pleasure of sitting in with
Billy Joel, Los Lobos, Willy Deville, Bruce Willis, Carl Perkins, Mick Jones and Dustin Hoffman among others.

Born in the Bronx, New York, Geary currently resides in Bergen County, NJ.
